Anna Noakes

Anna Noakes has performed concert with the major London orchestra as well as giving recitals as soloist and chamber musician, at the major London concert halls and at many of Britain’s most respected Festivals.

Leading composers such as Martin Yates, Cecilia McDowall, Dominique Le Grande, Elgar Howath and Simon Holt have been inspired to write for her and she has recorded numerous CDs featuring solo and flute chamber music, receiving Gramophone Magazine’s coveted ‘Critics Choice’ a number of times.

Anna broadcasts for BBC Radio3 and Classic FM and works as Guest Principal Flute with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, together with Orchestra of St John’s, Manning Camerata, City of London Sinfonia and Britten Sinfonia.

She spends a great deal of her time recording music for film and TV, scores that include Harry Potter, Shrek,The Da Vinci Code and Casino Royale to name but a few.

Anna is Professor of Flute at Trinity College of Music and for the past eighteen years has run her own Summer School for talented flute students, ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’; she is also Artistic Director of the Yoxford Arts Festival.

John Alley

John Alley

John Alley is Principal Keyboard Player with the London Symphony Orchestra. He began his musical training as a chorister of Westminster Abbey, thereafter studying piano at the Guildhall School of Music with James Gibb. Starting as an accompanist, he began working as an orchestral pianist and has played with most of the British orchestras along with the London Sinfonietta and chamber orchestras such as the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the English Chamber orchestra.

He has performed in over a hundred BBC Promenade Concerts and has worked with many of the twentieth century’s major composer/conductors, including Pierre Boulez, Luciano Berio, Hans Werner Henze, Witold Lutoslawski, George Benjamin and Oliver Knussen. He has recorded extensively for television, radio and CD.
