2nd Les Heures Musicales D’Aujols - 2009

Creating a special day for young musicians from the region who were invited to join the professional players for tutoring and guidance was an important addition.

The concert these young musicians put together with our experts was a real delight and there were many proud parents and friends in the audience that evening. We hadn’t realised just how many talented and musically interested youngsters there were in the village. We were even joined by some people who had just come to the village on holiday! We also added a musical morning for the little children where Vanessa King enthralled 20 or so youngsters with the help of Matthew Lee, Belinda MacFarlane and Maxine Moore.

The Salle de Fetes was the perfect setting for a morning of musical fun and mayhem. This time there were 3 concerts, the final one including my new piece Oradour – In Memoriam, which in the hushed atmosphere of the church was a moving experience for me.

The participation of many members of the village who helped to organise everything, kindly gave accommodation to the musicians, built the stage structure, created the lighting in the church, gave out the programmes, helped to cook the food, took the photographs and who
